Currently, ICESA activities are centred on a single core project which is to produce a book on the Geology of the African Plate, covering Africa and the Middle-East. The book project is currently sponsored by ILP and IASPEI but we expect more sponsors, e.g. UNESCO, Mining Companies, any governmental and non-governmental body in the future. A critical stage of this project will be the organization of the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES OF AFRICA: EARLY 21st CENTURY REVIEW.
1. Introduction
2. Major structures of the African Plate: Geophysical constraints
3. Archaean
4. Eburnian Orogenic system and related basins
5. Kibaran orogenic system and related basins
6. Pan African orogenic system and related basins
7. Caledonian orogenic system and Cape belt
8. Phanerozoic rift systems
9. Hercynian orogenic system
